Regency furniture, spanning the early 19th century, draws heavily on classical Greek, Roman, and Egyptian motifs, featuring clean lines, dark exotic woods like rosewood, and architectural symmetry.

Master cabinetmakers typically utilised dense, durable tropical hardwoods such as rosewood and mahogany, often accented with brass inlays, gilt bronze mounts, and traditional webbed upholstery frames.

Authenticity is identified through period-appropriate joinery, hand-turned stretcher bars, dense timber weight, natural oxidisation of the wood, and traditional hand-stuffed upholstery foundations beneath the top cover.

This versatile piece functions effectively at the foot of a bed, as a window seat, or positioned centrally in a study to introduce classical architectural lines and rich dark wood tones.

Maintain antique rosewood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber splitting, applying microcrystalline wax sparingly, and dusting gently with a dry, soft cloth.
