Exquisite Edwardian Silver & Tortoiseshell Cut Glass Vanity Jar by R.comyns, London 1909

1900 - 1920
Description

This is a rather beautiful silver and pique tortoiseshell dressing table jar. Made by the celebrated Richard Comyns, it is hallmarked for London 1909. The tortoiseshell pull-off cover intricately inlaid with ribbon-tied garlands within a raised silver bluebell border. Gilt interior. The star-incised glass base exquisitely cut in diamond patterns.

Hallmarks:

R.C for Richard Comyns.

London Assay Mark.

Lion Passant.

Date letter "o" for 1909.

Condition:

Very good.

Tortoiseshell in good glossy condition.

Silver base in very good condition, no dents.

Snuggly fitted lid.

Dimensions:

Diameter: 5.5cm / 2.2 inches.

Height: 5.5cm / 2.2 inches.
