Description

A very good quality George III Sterling Silver Gilt Snuff box by renowned maker Alexander J Strachan London c1805.

Gilded interior and epithet exterior also has a gilt finish.

It measures 8.3 cm x 4 cm x 1.5 cm and weighs 70.4 grams.

Condition is very good for its 220+ years, the makers mark and town mark are visible, date mark not visible. The interior gilding is good but as you can see there are a few scratches & wear. The exterior is gilt finished but has faded / worn in places from handling, use and cleaning. There are a few small dings to the box and surface wear / marks. It opens and shuts well.
