Miniature scent bottles gained popularity during the 18th and 19th centuries as portable containers for perfumes and smelling salts, often carried in pocket or vanity sets by nobility and the upper classes.

Traditional construction typically involved blown, moulded, or cut glass combined with precious metals such as sterling silver, silver gilt, or gold, often featuring intricate hand-chased caps and stoppers.

Authenticity is determined by examining metal hallmarks, the quality of glass cutting, hand-engraving on the metal mounts, and the natural wear consistent with age.

They can be displayed on dressing tables, mirrored trays, or within glass cabinets alongside other small collectables to add a touch of historical elegance and colour.

Keep items out of direct sunlight to prevent glass discolouration, clean silver gently with a non-abrasive cloth to preserve gilding, and avoid harsh chemical immersion.
