Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Stools from the Queen Anne and early Georgian eras are characterised by graceful proportions, cabriole legs, curved aprons, and carved motifs such as scallop shells. Walnut was the predominant wood of choice during the early 18th century prior to the widespread import of mahogany.

These stools typically feature solid or veneered walnut frames crafted with traditional mortise and tenon joinery. Original upholstery bases relied on natural materials such as jute webbing, horsehair padding, and hand-stitched linen.

Authentic period design elements include hand-carved knee details such as shell motifs, pad feet or ball-and-claw feet, and gentle shaping along the apron. Evidence of hand-sawing on the underside frame and natural age patina on the timber also indicate age.

An antique footstool provides warmth and textural contrast when placed alongside modern armchairs, at the foot of a bed, or positioned near a fireplace hearth. Neutral upholstery allows the timber grain and carved details to complement contemporary colour palettes.

Dust timber surfaces regularly with a soft cloth and apply a beeswax polish annually to nourish the wood and maintain its original patina. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources to prevent timber shrinkage or cracking, and spot-clean fabric with specialist cleaners.
