Treasure Trove Worcester Ltd has dated this piece to the 1890s.

The set comprises twelve dessert knives and twelve dessert forks, each fitted with solid mother-of-pearl handles mounted with silver-plated ferrules. The blades and tines are of silver-plated steel, with the knives bearing the maker’s mark W.H & Co, confirming manufacture by Walker & Hall.

The handles display the natural iridescence and depth characteristic of genuine mother-of-pearl, with subtle variation from piece to piece, and are neatly fluted in the classical taste. The set is housed in its original mahogany presentation box, lined in blue velvet and complete with the original working lock and key.

Case measures 29 x 25 x 6 (height) cm
In good antique condition overall. All pieces present. Light surface wear and fine scratches to the blades consistent with age and use. Some natural mellowing and light staining to a few pearl handles, typical of antique mother-of-pearl. The box shows honest wear to the exterior with a pleasing patina.
