A good quality Victorian Sterling silver & gilt Single Tube Cigar Case, with plain body and a self closing sprung hinge.
 
Hallmarked for London 1882 by rare maker David Jellicoe Baker. It was very hard to find this maker as he is not listed on any normal silver hallmarking sites. Eventually, with help, he was located in the reference book John Culme - Directory of Gold & Silversmiths, Jewellers and Allied Traders 1838-1914
 
Engraved initials to both sides.
 
Measuring 12 cm x 2.5 cm and with a good weight of 44.4 grams.
 
Condition is very good, opens and snaps shut well, hallmarks very good, gilding bright. A few dings and scratches to the body, signs of wear commensurate of age and use.
