Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Nouveau jewellery, prominent between 1890 and 1910, is characterised by organic flowing lines, natural forms, and free-form whiplash curves. Movement motifs frequently incorporate nature themes, landscape scenes, and stylised flora using artistic enamelling techniques rather than heavy gemstone settings.

Craftsmen typically utilised sterling or continental silver, gold, vitreous enamel, and pearl accents. Plique-a-jour and champleve enamel techniques were applied alongside semi-precious stones and freshwater pearls to create colourful artistic compositions.

Authentic pieces display hand-finished metalwork with characteristic sinuous curves, makers marks or silver purity stamps on the reverse, and genuine vitreous enamel rather than cold resin fillers. Signs of age include mild surface wear, natural patina, and historic solder marks consistent with early 20th-century craftsmanship.

A silver enamel pendant can be worn against neutral fabrics such as white silk blouses, linen knitwear, or dark tailoring to highlight the coloured enamel detail. Its historic design provides an artistic focal point suitable for both casual and formal wear.

Clean gently using a soft, dry microfibre cloth to remove oils without damaging delicate vitreous enamel or pearl elements. Avoid chemical silver dips, ultrasonic cleaners, and moisture immersion, as extreme heat or abrasive solvents can crack enamel and degrade organic pearls.
