An Empire style X-frame stool, often referred to as a curule stool, is an accent seat inspired by ancient Roman and Greek folding chairs. Popularised in early 19th-century France, these stools feature crossed legs forming an X silhouette, carved decorative detail, and a concave upholstered seat.
