FAQs

Art Deco lighting emerged in the 1920s and 1930s, characterised by sleek geometric shapes, stylised motifs, and a celebration of modern industrial technology and streamlined design.

Authentic pieces from this period commonly incorporate moulded frosted glass, chrome-plated metal, brass, and occasionally specialised plastics like bakelite, reflecting the eras fascination with novel materials.

Authenticity is typically verified by examining maker marks, the weight and quality of the cast metal, the presence of mould seams on vintage pressed glass, and the construction methods of the internal wiring hardware.

This type of fixture serves as a striking focal point on a credenza or desk, pairing well with clean-lined modern furniture, neutral colour palettes, and metallic accents that complement its geometric form.

Dust metal components gently with a soft microfibre cloth and clean glass shades with mild soapy water, avoiding harsh chemical abrasives that can damage delicate platings or patinas.
