A late 19th-century oak library bookcase with a wide, low form and twin open sections. Each side contains three shelves with dark-stained backboards, framed by lighter oak sides and a figured oak top with rounded ends and a central divider. The plinth base provides stability while the plain mouldings keep the emphasis on the natural grain of the timber. Designed for accessible storage, the bookcase reflects the practical yet well-crafted aesthetic of late Victorian library furniture.
