Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

George III seating from the late eighteenth century is marked by Neoclassical influences, featuring symmetrical proportions, reeded friezes, straight or tapered turned legs, and restrained timber carving.

Cabinetmakers primarily utilised solid Cuban or West Indian mahogany for the frame due to its density and grain, paired with horsehair padding and woven silk, wool, or velvet textiles secured with brass studs.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut joinery, natural age patina on the timber undersides, hand-hammered brass upholstery tacks, and turnings showing minor irregularities consistent with manual lathe work.

Position the seat within a bay window, at the foot of a bed, or inside an entrance hall to provide structured accent seating that bridges traditional architectural details with modern upholstery textures.

Clean the velvet with a soft upholstery brush or low-suction vacuum attachment, while treating the exposed mahogany frame with beeswax polish applied sparingly along the direction of the grain.
