M Cross Antiques has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
Additionally, a brass lock escutcheon designed in a heart shape to match the marquetry decoration holds the key to the working lock in place. This opens to reveal the large open interior space.

The base section below this has two drawers to the front with brass pull handles and moulded edges and is raised on exquisitely turned and carved legs finished on pad feet.
The overall condition is excellent given the age. One small area of inlay is slightly lifting, but beyond that an exceptional example and would make a wonderful statement piece.
