This large Edwardian lemonade or Pimms jug originates from 1890 and bears the maker details of Elkington & Co from Birmingham. The design combines a clear ribbed glass cylindrical body with polished silver-plated metal elements, including a plain mount collar and an arched scroll handle. A domed fluted lid tops the piece, finished with a hinged thumbpiece mechanism. The silver-plated surfaces show very good re-silvered condition throughout the clear-cut contours of the hardware. Measuring 27.9 cm high and 12.7 cm wide, the vessel sits well on a sideboard top within an English Country House setting. It functions practically as a drink service container for home entertaining, holding chilled beverages such as lemonade or Pimms during gatherings. The combination of reflective silver tones and transparent glass creates a traditional tableware presentation suitable for formal dining rooms or living spaces.

A silver-mounted lemonade or claret jug is a beverage vessel produced predominantly during the Victorian and Edwardian eras, combining a glass body with a silver or silver-plated collar, spout, and handle for serving chilled drinks at the dining table.

These jugs are primarily crafted from blown, etched, or ribbed glass paired with silver-plated or sterling silver metalwork that forms the collar, hinged lid, thumbpiece, and handle.

Authentic pieces feature manufacturer hallmarks or makers marks stamped directly onto the metal collar or lid rim, often accompanied by specific date letters or pattern numbers.

It can be displayed atop a sideboard, arranged on a drinkware tray within a bar cart, or used as a functional serving piece during formal dining.

Hand wash the glass interior with warm water and mild soap while avoiding submersion, and gently clean the metalwork using a soft cloth with a non-abrasive silver polish to prevent tarnishing.
