A Gorgeous Silver-Plated on Copper Rose Bowl featuring a removable wire grid insert and finely cast lion mask ring handles. Designed to hold floral arrangements with symmetry and style, it’s both an elegant centrepiece and a beautifully made piece of decorative silverware – circa 1960.

Rose bowls emerged in the late nineteenth century as dedicated vessels for displaying short-stemmed garden flowers. The addition of a removable wire mesh grid allowed stems to be arranged neatly in upright positions across the bowl.

These vessels typically feature a base metal such as brass or nickel alloy coated in a layer of electroplated silver. Component features, such as cast lion mask drop handles and wire mesh frogs, were crafted separately and attached to the spun or stamped main bowl.
