Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian oak standard lamps emerged in the early twentieth century alongside the spread of domestic electricity. They typically feature lighter oak timber finishes compared to Victorian predecessors, showcasing turned columns, circular bases, and restrained classical proportions.

These lamps are constructed from solid oak timber, often turned on a lathe to create decorative moulding along the main shaft. They incorporate a heavy timber or weighted circular base for stability and are topped with brass bayonet fittings for the bulb.

Authentic Edwardian floor lamps exhibit period joinery, natural timber grain, and genuine aged patina on both the oak and brass components. Look for original turned details, weighted bases, and evidence of historical rewiring where older flex was updated to modern safety standards.

Position the standard lamp beside a armchair, reading desk, or within an empty corner to provide localized task lighting. Pairing the timber base with a neutral linen or textured fabric lampshade bridges traditional woodworking with contemporary interior palettes.

Maintain the timber by dusting regularly with a soft, dry cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the lamp away from direct heat sources to prevent cracking, and ensure electrical components are periodically inspected by a qualified electrician.
