Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A boat ring, popular during the late Victorian and Edwardian periods, features an elongated head shaped like the hull of a boat. Gemstones are typically set in a line along the centre, often supported by pierced or carved scrollwork along the sides of the setting.

Rings from the early George V period were commonly crafted in 18ct yellow gold or platinum. Settings frequently featured precious gemstones such as natural blue sapphires, rubies, or emeralds, flanked by small old-cut or rose-cut diamond accents.

Authentic British gold rings feature stamped hallmarks inside the band, including a crown and purity mark for gold grade (such as 18 for 18ct), an assay office mark (such as an anchor for Birmingham), and a specific date letter representing the year of manufacture.

An antique boat ring can be worn alone as a statement piece on the index or middle finger, or stacked alongside slim contemporary gold bands to create a textured, mixed-era aesthetic.

Clean the ring using warm water, mild soap, and a soft-bristled brush, paying attention to the spaces beneath the stones in the carved gallery. Avoid exposure to harsh household chemicals and store the piece separately in a fabric-lined box to protect soft gemstones from scratching.
