Arts and Crafts jewellery typically emphasises hand-crafted execution, visible working marks, and the use of semi-precious stones set in silver, rebuffing mass production in favour of traditional artisan techniques.

Jewellery from this era frequently utilised sterling silver, low-carat golds, and accessible gemstones such as amethysts, garnets, and peridots, often highlighting natural textures over high-polish finishes.

Authenticity is typically verified through makers marks, silver hallmarks denoting standard fineness, hand-hammered textural details, and period-appropriate pin mechanisms such as safety catches or C-clasps.

Antique brooches can be worn pinned to the lapel of a tailored blazer, fastened at the neckline of a blouse, or used to anchor a scarf or shawl for a sophisticated touch of historical detail.

Silver should be stored in anti-tarnish bags and cleaned gently with a specialist microfibre cloth, whilst amethysts should be kept away from harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners, and prolonged direct sunlight to prevent fading.
