Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian silver and glass objects, produced during the reign of Queen Victoria from 1837 to 1901, often feature ornate craftsmanship, functional domestic designs, and a combination of sterling silver mounts with coloured or cut glassware.

These items typically combine blown or moulded glass bodies, often coloured with metallic oxides such as manganese for amethyst hues, paired with hallmarked sterling silver mounts, lids, and sometimes matching spoons.

Authentic pieces are identified through clear British hallmark stamps, which generally include a makers mark, a lion passant for sterling silver, a city mark indicating the assay office such as an anchor for Birmingham, and a date letter.

Such pieces can be displayed within glass-fronted cabinets, used as tabletop accents on sideboards, or incorporated into curated table settings to introduce historical texture and vibrant colour to a contemporary space.

Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly with a non-abrasive silver cloth to maintain the patina, while the glass component can be washed gently in warm water with mild soap, avoiding harsh chemicals and extreme temperature changes.
