Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

French hall lanterns feature an open or glazed frame housing internal light sources, designed historically to protect flames from draughts in corridors and entryways. They often incorporate cast metalwork, curved glass panels, and decorative scroll motifs inspired by classical French architecture.

Historically, French pendant lights and hall lanterns were constructed using cast bronze, brass, or gilded metal frameworks fitted with hand-blown glass panels. Higher-end examples incorporated cut crystal, fire-gilded ormolu finishings, and carefully shaped bent glass elements.

Authentic antique bronze light fixtures exhibit age-appropriate oxidisation and natural patina within crevices, sharp foundry details from traditional sand-casting, and visible hand-finishing marks. Older electric or converted pieces often feature original cast chain links and non-standard thread pitch on threaded components.

An antique bronze lantern serves as a focal point when suspended over a foyer, hallway landing, or kitchen island. Its warm metallic tones pair well with neutral stone flooring, traditional panelling, or contrasting contemporary minimalist architecture.

Dust the frame regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth to preserve the natural patina, avoiding chemical cleaners or metal polishes that strip historical finish. Glass panels should be cleaned carefully using a mild alcohol-free solution applied to a cloth rather than sprayed directly.
