Huge Gothic Brass Chandelier. Circa 1880. Makers Mark stamped into bottom section - ''J Wilmotte, Liege'' - *Goldsmith and Church Metalworker. Notably manufacturer of exceptional quality chandeliers (Liege, Belgium).
Superb quality 8-arm chandelier, sculptured with gothic trefoils, castellated turrets and beautiful foliage sections. Heavy brass construction throughout with a substantial central column of octagonal section (circa 20Kg alone). Extremely well designed and engineered, with the lower sections easily (and smoothly) unscrewed, enabling the arms to be unbolted and detached (for transport). The bottom finial terminating in a beautifully sculptured lions head, similarly of huge proportions. Superb.
Condition: Brasswork in excellent original condition, and beautifully patinated. Some minor dents to arms and few scratches. Chandelier has not been wired. Recent photos taken disassembled.
