Description

A superb set of six German solid 800 silver spoons. They are all hallmarked with the 800 silver standard marks, the German state mark and the makers mark Bruckmann Sohne. I would date them to c1920-1940. They have a very stylish Art Deco design with gilded bowls and handles engraved FS or SF. They are in superb condition being free from dings and repairs. They measure over 4.25 inches (11.1cm) long by over 0.75 inch (2.2cm) wide and combined weigh 80 grams excluding the case. Beautifully made examples.

Declaration

The Silver Squirrel has dated these Art Deco Silver Spoons to the 1930s.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco silverware is characterised by geometric symmetry, stylised motifs, clean lines, and a departure from the ornate floral designs of the Edwardian era.

The 800 mark indicates that the item is composed of 80 percent pure silver alloyed with other metals, typically copper, which was a legal standard widely used in Germany and central Europe.

Authentic pieces typically feature period hallmarks or standard purity stamps, original fitted presentation boxes with period satin or velvet linings, and natural signs of age-related patination.

These pieces can be displayed within a glass-fronted cabinet or utilised occasionally during formal dinner parties to add a touch of period elegance to the table setting.

Silver gilt items should be cleaned sparingly with a very soft cloth and non-abrasive silver cleaner, avoiding harsh dips that can strip the delicate gold wash layer.
