Description

Tall French wardrobe with beautiful original hand painted decoration c.1890. Single door with the original full length mirror plate with shaped top and bevelled edge. Fitted inside with four adjustable shelves (internal depth 15"), over a single drawer in the base. With an unusual pierced wave pattern frieze above the cornice and long turned and fluted columns flanking the door. Remarkable hand painted decoration featuring naturalistic scenes of birds insects and plants to the sides of the wardrobe. More botanical specimens are painted around the top of the wardrobe, above and below the mirror, on the base of the columns, to the drawer front and at the bottom of the sides. Note also the duck egg blue paint used to highlight the mouldings and framing the painted panels. Fluted centre to the drawer front repeated either side of the drawer. Raised on turned front feet. Oak drawer linings and interior. Some wear to the exterior, generally very good colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.

Note we recommend this wardrobe should be secured to the wall before use.
