Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Yomut Turkmen carpets originate from nomadic weavers in Central Asia and are characterised by deep terracotta, red, or dark brown grounds patterned with repeating geometric tribal medallions known as guls.

These carpets are hand-knotted using hand-spun wool for the warp, weft, and pile, dyed with natural vegetable and insect dyes, and bound with high knot counts to create durable, dense floor coverings.

Authentic 19th-century examples display natural dye Abrash variations, soft handle wool warps, specific tribal emblems such as the Dyrnak or Kepse gul, and signs of genuine age-related oxidisation.

Tribal carpets provide visual weight and geometric structure, making them effective for grounding neutral modern schemes, pairing with dark wood furniture, or adding texture to contemporary minimalist interiors.

Maintenance requires regular low-suction vacuuming without a rotating beat-bar, immediate blotting of spills using pH-neutral water, periodic rotation to equalise wear, and professional specialist cleaning.
