Antique Afghan Ersari Turkmen carpet with traditional Ersari large gul design and unique Taghan tree border.
 
Circa 1900.
 
The carpet as two vertical rows of five large Ersari octagonal guls; note the inner main border with the repeat tree design; this is unique to the Taghan sub tribe of the Ersari who settled in Northern Afghanistan. The carpet is of a very pleasing soft warm madder red colour with the design in indigo blue.
 
The carpet is in excellent condition with slight even wear and good pile, this is a superb furnishing carpet that is ideal for a living or dining room.
 
The carpet is suitable for heavy domestic floor use.
