Description

Size: 8ft 11in x 6ft 1in (272 x 185cm).

Antique Tekke Turkmen main carpet with 5 rows of 14 Tekke guls.

Circa 1900.

The carpet has a soft madder brown / red ground colour, the design is traditional Tekke Turkmen. The border is of the Turkmen octagon and sunburst design. The carpet has highlights in Cochineal dye through out.

The carpet is in excellent condition with even wear with medium pile.

Both ends retain the original large elem panel end finishes.

The carpet is suitable for normal domestic use.

The carpet has been hand washed and is ready for use.

The visual pattern displays a repeating grid of five rows of fourteen octagonal Tekke guls across the deep rust-red field, complemented by Turkmen octagon and sunburst geometric borders, woven elem skirts at both ends, and fringed ends.
