Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian mahogany stools produced during the nineteenth century frequently reflected Rococo Revival and Neoclassical influences, incorporating solid mahogany frames, curved cabriole or turned legs, and decorative fabric upholstery.

Cabinetmakers primarily used dense West Indian or South American mahogany for the frame, joined with traditional mortise and tenon timber joints, whilst seats were stuffed with horsehair and covered in woven wool, damask, or needlepoint fabrics.

Authentic nineteenth-century pieces display hand-carved leg detailing, natural oxidation on the underside of the timber, corner block reinforcements within the frame, and irregular tool marks consistent with period woodworking techniques.

An upholstered mahogany stool functions effectively as occasional seating at the foot of a bed, beneath a contemporary vanity desk, or as a decorative accent positioned beside a fireplace or low side table.

Timber elements should be dusted with a soft cloth and polished occasionally using beeswax, while fabric upholstery requires gentle vacuuming with a brush attachment and protection from direct sunlight to prevent colour fading.
