The George II period, spanning from 1727 to 1760, is characterised by a transition from heavy baroque forms to lighter, more refined classical proportions influenced by Palladianism.

These items were typically cast in yellow brass using multi-part sand moulds or lost-wax techniques, often constructed in sections before being turned on a lathe and joined.

Authentic pieces exhibit natural surface wear, casting flaws, file marks from manual finishing, and a deep, undisturbed patination accumulated over centuries.

Pairing these metallic objects with contemporary minimalist furniture or placing them on a dark timber surface creates a striking contrast that highlights their historical craftsmanship.

Preservation involves dusting with a soft dry cloth and avoiding aggressive chemical polishes that strip away the valuable historical patina and oxidation.
