Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Victorian silver cream jug is a small vessel designed for serving milk or cream during tea and coffee service, produced during the reign of Queen Victoria between 1837 and 1901. These pieces frequently feature hand-chased ornamentation, Rococo Revival scrollwork, and botanical motifs characteristic of 19th-century metalwork.

Victorian cream jugs were primarily constructed from sterling silver, consisting of 92.5 percent pure silver alloyed with copper for structural integrity. Many examples feature a interior gilded lining, known as vermeil, applied to protect the silver metal from tarnishing due to liquid contact.

Authentic British Victorian silver is identified by a series of official hallmarks stamped into the surface, including the maker mark, town mark, assay mark such as the lion passant, and a date letter. During much of the Victorian era, a monarchs head duty mark was also applied.

An antique silver cream jug can be displayed on a sideboard alongside ceramic tableware or repurposed as a small decorative vase for floral arrangements. Incorporating polished metallic objects into contemporary spaces adds visual texture and historic character.

Maintain silver hollowware by dusting with a soft microfibre cloth and polishing periodically using a specialized non-abrasive silver cream. Wash gently in warm water with mild washing-up liquid, avoiding harsh chemicals, and dry thoroughly immediately after washing to prevent water spots and oxidisation.
