Decanter labels, also known as bottle tickets, originated in England around the mid-18th century during the Georgian era to identify wines and spirits served from crystal decanters.

These items were predominantly crafted from sterling silver using techniques such as die-stamping, piercing, and hand-engraving, often suspended by a matching link chain.

Authentic pieces typically feature British hallmark stamps, including a makers mark, a lion passant for sterling silver, a duty mark, and a date letter indicating the specific year of assay.

They can be displayed within a traditional bar cabinet, mounted in a small shadow box, or styled on a mirrored tray alongside period glassware for a sophisticated touch.

Clean gently with a specialised microfibre cloth and non-abrasive silver polish only when necessary, storing them in a tarnish-resistant pouch in a dry environment.
