Georgian glass from around 1820 typically features robust lead metal, simple classical proportions, and occasionally deep saturated colours produced by adding metallic oxides to the melt.

These items were traditionally hand-blown using free-blown or mould-blown techniques, often utilising potash or lead glass formulations shaped by skilled glassmakers.

Authentic pieces often exhibit pontil scars on the base, minor surface imperfections, air bubbles trapped within the metal, and characteristic weight and wear consistent with age.

Coloured glassware adds depth and vibrancy when displayed within glazed cabinets, on open shelving, or utilised selectively on a dining table for a layered tablescape.

Antique glass should always be washed by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes and abrasive sponges to protect the delicate surface.
