Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Decanter sets housed in metal stands gained immense popularity during the Victorian era, specifically in the late 19th century, as dining and entertaining became central to middle and upper-class social rituals.

These sets typically feature hand-cut lead crystal or blown glass decanters paired with a base frame manufactured from a base metal, such as copper or nickel silver, which was then coated using an electroplating process with sterling silver.

Authenticity is generally determined by examining hallmarks, makers marks, the weight and clarity of the hand-cut glass, and the natural patination or wear patterns on the silver plating that indicate age.

This piece can be displayed on a sideboard, bar cart, or open shelving unit to introduce reflective metallic surfaces and historical texture into a dining room or living space.

The silver-plated stand should be cleaned gently with a non-abrasive silver cloth to avoid stripping the plating, while the glass decanters ought to be washed by hand using warm water and mild detergent without soaking.
