We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

The French Empire style is an early 19th-century design movement characterised by classical Roman and Greek motifs, symmetrical proportions, and a focus on imposing architectural forms.

These pieces typically utilised dense hardwoods such as mahogany or walnut veneer, accented with marble tops and cast brass or gilt bronze mounts.

Authenticity is assessed through traditional construction methods, such as hand-cut dovetail joints, period-appropriate timber shrinkage, and genuine stone tops rather than modern composite materials.

Pair the classical architectural lines of the piece with neutral contemporary walls and minimalist lighting to create a balanced, eclectic focal point.

Maintain the timber using natural beeswax and clean the marble top with a damp cloth, avoiding acidic substances that can etch the stone surface.
