Scandinavian silversmiths, notably in Norway, gained international renown during the Art Nouveau and Jugendstil periods for their mastery of plique-a-jour and guilloche enamel techniques applied to small decorative and functional objects.

Master silversmiths traditionally utilised sterling silver or 830-grade silver, often incorporating vitreous enamel, gemstones such as moonstones or garnets, and gold wash accents to embellish utilitarian sewing items.

Authentic pieces typically bear the makers mark associated with the Marius Hammer workshop, often featuring a hammer symbol alongside silver standard hallmarks, combined with characteristic high-grade enamel work.

These small objects are ideally displayed within glass cabinets, on small occasional surfaces, or integrated into a curated bookshelf vignette to highlight historical craftsmanship.

Enamel and antique silver require gentle cleaning with a soft, dry microfibre cloth to avoid scratching the glass surface or removing the delicate metal finish, avoiding harsh chemical dips completely.
