Nailsea glass refers to glassware produced at the Nailsea Glassworks near Bristol, England, operating from 1788 to 1873. It is renowned for its distinctive looped, combed, and trailed decorative glass patterns.

These items were hand-blown using potash or lead glass. Coloured glass threads were applied while molten and combed into loops or feather patterns using a sharp tool before final blowing and shaping.

Authentic pieces typically feature a rough pontil mark on the base where the glassblowing rod was detached, irregular air bubbles within the metal, and hand-applied trailing that is fused directly into the surface rather than painted on.

Display them on a bright windowsill or open shelving where natural light can pass through the translucent coloured glass, highlighting the intricate trailed patterns and handmade textures.

Clean gently by hand using lukewarm water and a mild detergent when necessary, avoiding abrasive cloths or harsh chemicals. Keep out of direct, prolonged sunlight to prevent any potential fading of coloured glass elements.
