A cabochon of natural coral hand carved with a tiny cameo portrait and set into a large gold ring with decorative scrollwork shoulders and a reeded shank. The coral has a deep reddish-salmon tone while the gold (unhallmarked but testing as minimum 18 carat) is a lovely rich colour.
Likely Victorian though possibly earlier, the ring definitely has a Georgian look.
In very nice antique condition. The coral face is worn, as you would expect in such an old piece, but there are no chips or cracks and the gold setting shows few signs of wear with the detail still lovely and crisp.
Size: X (UK), 11.5 (US), a large size. The coral measures approximately 10 x 8mm.
Weight: 2.5g.
