Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Bureau cabinets from the Queen Anne and George I periods typically feature a two-part construction with double-arched or domed tops, figured walnut veneers, crossbanding, drop-front writing slopes, and intricate interior compartments including pigeonholes and small drawers.

These cabinets were predominantly crafted using walnut or burr walnut veneers laid over pine or oak carcasses, complemented by tool-embossed leather writing surfaces, solid wood drawer linings, and cast brass handles.

Authentic period examples generally showcase hand-cut dovetail joints, oak or pine drawer bottoms with grain running front-to-back, hand-planed rear panels, natural wood shrinkage lines, and original brass fittings with square nuts.

A bureau cabinet serves as a focal statement piece in a study, living room, or entrance hall, seamlessly pairing with minimalist contemporary seating or neutral decor to highlight the wood grain and architectural form.

Walnut furniture requires regular application of high-quality beeswax to nourish the timber, stable indoor humidity levels to prevent veneer lift, and placement away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent drying or bleaching.
