Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Celadon refers to a family of ceramic glazes known for their pale green hue, originating in China during the bronze age and later heavily emulated by European potteries in the 19th century to create decorative objects like lamps and urns.

These lamps typically combine high-fired ceramic or porcelain bodies with cast brass or ormolu mounts, often supported by wooden or patinated metal bases for structural stability.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit hand-chased metal mounts, period-appropriate wiring or conversion holes, crazing within the ceramic glaze, and traditional construction methods consistent with nineteenth-century French metalwork and pottery.

Such a lamp serves as a sophisticated accent piece on a sideboard, console, or desk, adding a touch of classical texture and soft colour that complements both neutral minimalist spaces and layered traditional rooms.

Dust the ceramic body gently with a dry, soft cloth and clean the metal mounts using a specialist non-abrasive metal cleaner, avoiding harsh chemicals that could damage the glaze or patination.
