Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Silver card boxes became particularly popular during the late 19th and early 20th centuries with the rise of parlour games and card playing as a prominent social pastime in middle and upper-class households.

These items are typically constructed from sterling silver, often featuring hallmarks stamped on the exterior or interior rim, and frequently include gilt interiors to protect the silver from tarnishing caused by paper cards.

Authenticity is usually verified through clear hallmarks indicating the assay office, makers mark, and date letter, alongside traditional construction techniques such as soldered hinges and hand-finishing.

This piece can be placed on a coffee table, a side table, or a desk as a functional decorative object that adds metallic reflection and historical character to a room.

Silver should be cleaned infrequently using a specialised non-abrasive silver polish and a soft cloth, and stored in a low-humidity environment to minimise oxidation and tarnish.
