A tiny gold early 19th century mourning brooch with a glazed centrepiece of neatly braided hair. The plain inner frame is a slightly rosy gold, making a lovely contrast to the richer yellow gold outer frame which is carved with decorative flowers and leaves.
The brooch fixes with a simple C clasp. In very good antique condition; there is a little abrasion to the face of the bevelled glass surface.
Unmarked, tests as nine-carat gold.
Size: Approximately 1.8 x 1.5cm.
Weight: 2.1g.
