ANTIQUE #SA1094574

Georgian Silver Black Dot Cushion Cut Paste Pendant

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Corvidae Antique

This pretty little sparkling antique pendant started out as part of a bigger piece of jewellery, likely a large necklace, and has at some time been converted to a very wearable piece which can be hung on a chain or ribbon.

The pendant is solid silver, set with beautiful old foil-backed black dot paste, mainly cushion cuts around a central round stone. The Georgians (c.1714-1837) would paint a black dot on the bottom end of paste stones (the culet) to help give an illusion of depth and make them look more like real diamonds as they glittered in the candlelight.

In very good antique condition, with a little wear to the paste facets. There is a small hole in the back, likely from the piece''s original jewellery form.

Size: Approximately 1.7cm diameter, 2.3cm including the bail.

Weight: 2.8g.

We currently have a number of lovely Georgian pieces just in (see final photo) which are being added to the shop, see our other listings for more details :)
