This is a rare Georgian, English single series colour twist wine glass dating from the middle of the 18th century, c1765.
The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to both the rim of the bowl and to the rim of the foot commensurate with some 250 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the underside of the foot.
The glass has a bell-shaped bowl measuring 7 cm (2.8 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl is plain and sits on a single series colour twist stem consisting of a lace twist with one edge coloured a deep burgundy red. The stem ends in a conical foot which measures 7.5 cm (3 inches) in diameter. The glass is 17 cm (6.8 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. There is a small black inclusion in the metal of the foot at the edge dating from manufacture, the glass creating a tiny protuberance at that point.
Lead glass weighing in at 170 g. (~ 6 oz.).
