Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Victorian Chinoiserie table lamp combines a ceramic vase form with cast brass mounts and a pleated terracotta fabric shade. The sage green glazed ceramic body displays hand-painted foliage and a bird motif depicting a bird perched on a branch, complemented by a decorative cast brass base with scroll feet. The pleated fabric shade provides a warm terracotta colour contrast against the sage green background of the vase. The total height with the shade measures 70 cm, while the height excluding the shade is 50 cm and the base width is 21 cm. This piece suits placement on a sideboard top in an English Country House interior setting, providing accent lighting for a living room, hallway or study.

FAQs

A Chinoiserie vase table lamp is a lighting fixture utilizing a ceramic or porcelain vessel decorated with East Asian-inspired motifs, such as birds, flora, or landscapes, adapted into an electric light source.

These lamps typically feature a glazed porcelain or earthenware body, hand-painted enamel details, cast brass or bronze bases and collars, and a tailored fabric or pleated silk shade.

Authentic pieces display hand-applied brushwork with slight brush stroke variations, age-appropriate patination on the metal mounts, and often evidence of conversion from a standalone vase or fluid lamp.

Place the lamp on a dark wood sideboard, console table, or bedside chest to provide layered ambient lighting that introduces pattern and texture to contemporary rooms.

Dust the ceramic body and pleated shade with a soft, dry microfibre cloth or soft brush, and avoid harsh abrasive cleaners that could damage hand-painted enamels or remove the brass patination.
