FAQs

The George III period spanned from 1760 to 1811, marked by a transition from heavier early-century designs to more refined, classical proportions influenced by architects like Robert Adam.

These pieces were typically constructed from solid native timber such as oak or mahogany, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints, pegged framing, and traditional brass H-hinges or escutcheons.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-correct joinery, hand-planed board surfaces, old-growth timber characteristics, and minimal machine tool marks, alongside natural wear and patina consistent with age.

Mounting the cabinet at standard eye level allows it to function as a focal point, contrasting effectively against neutral plastered walls while providing practical enclosed display or storage space.

Maintain stable indoor humidity and temperature levels to prevent wood splitting, apply microcrystalline wax periodically to nourish the surface, and avoid placement near direct heat sources or strong sunlight.
