Georgian English Masonic Engraved Tumbler

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: The World is Made of Glass Ltd.

This is a Georgian, English, Masonic-engraved beaker glass or tumbler dating from the turn of the 18th/19th centuries, c1800.

The glass is in excellent condition for its age. This means, of course, that it shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the base consistent with nearly 200 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the underside of the base.

The glass has a bucket-shaped bowl measuring 8.5 cm. (3.4 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl is engraved with a host of Masonic symbols including, we understand, those of King Solomon, his temple and of Hiram Abiff. The base measures 6.2 cm. (2.5 inches) in diameter. The glass is 11 cm (4.4 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration.

It is made from lead metal weighing 285 g. (~ 10 oz.).
