A small silver gilt ewer , the handle in the shape of a female figure, the spout with carved mask standing on a gadrooned base with wooden plinth bearing the name of Mappin and Webb. The ewer is inscribed “ Presented to the Epsom & District Chrysanthemum Society, Won By 1911 J Newton Mappin Esq” it appears Mr Mappin won his own trophy ! The ewer is stamped MW, London 1909 and weighs 14 oz. The silver is thick and if necessary the inscription could be taken out. A fine shape. The height including the plinth is 19cm.
