An English Silver Postal Letter Rack, Desk Tidy, Card Holder, Chester 1896 – 7

A rare late Victorian hallmarked silver postal letter rack or desk tidy which would be ideal for business cards etc.

This fine English solid silver postal letter rack is fully lined in mahogany and has a maroon leather covered base and underside.

This piece is retrained in its decoration with nice clean lines to its design. The condition is very good. It does display a few small minor age related marks which is expected with an item of silver over 120 years old.

The hallmark is faint but still readable. It shows the lion silver standard mark, the Chester assay mark and the date letter N for 1896 – 7.
