Antique glassware requires hand washing in lukewarm water with mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes, and storing securely away from direct sunlight to prevent thermal shock and material degradation.

Displaying historical stemware within open shelving or traditional cabinets adds rich colour and textural contrast, bridging classic design elements with modern dining spaces.

Authenticity is assessed by examining pontil marks on the base, minor surface irregularities, wear consistent with age, and the specific weight and clarity characteristic of nineteenth-century production methods.

These pieces were typically crafted using lead metal or soda-lime glass, coloured through the addition of metallic oxides such as manganese or gold during the melting process to achieve distinct amethyst hues.

Victorian glassware encompasses a vast array of manufacturing techniques and stylistic shifts spanning the nineteenth century, ranging from ornate moulded patterns to delicate hand-blown forms influenced by Gothic Revival and aesthetic movements.
