Nineteenth-century Bohemian glass is renowned for its exceptional craftsmanship, complex cutting techniques, and vibrant colour palettes, often featuring flashed or cased layers with intricate wheel-engraved motifs.

Master craftsmen utilised heavy potash-lead or lime glass, applying layers of coloured glass over clear substrates via casing, which were then laboriously cut back and engraved using copper wheels.

Clean antique glass gently by hand using lukewarm water and mild, non-abrasive detergent, avoiding immersion in hot water and never placing delicate historical pieces in a dishwasher.

Display coloured glass pieces in areas with strong natural light, such as open shelving or windowsills, allowing sunlight to accentuate the rich hues and intricate transparent engravings.

Authentic items typically exhibit hand-polished pontil marks on the base, minor irregularities consistent with mouth-blowing, crisp wheel-cut detailing, and genuine weight from high-density historic glass formulations.
