The pair of Art Deco bedside tables are constructed with stunning figured walnut timbers on a solid carcass. The tops feature small up-stands at the back of the chests. The walnut nightstands are constructed with two large working drawers, decorated with decorative figured-walnut detail, which are constructed with dovetail joints. The top drawer sits within a “stepped” moulded border; this style of moulding is replicate on the tops and sides of the bedsides. The drawer fronts also retain original cream Bakelite and metal handles, which is a nice touch. The drawers run smoothly and close flush to the frame. The Art Deco bedside chests stand on their original plinths. This pair of nightstands boast classic Art Deco styling throughout; this is visible in the rounded corners, clean lines and stepped design.
Condition Report:
Here is a fine quality pair of English Art Deco bedside chests, featuring two “stepped” drawers, constructed from figured walnut, circa 1930, in excellent condition. They are pedestals from an Art Deco dressing table, which have been adapted into bedside chests. The Art Deco bedside chests have been cleaned and French polished by hand to a professional standard in our workshop, therefore the fins are in excellent condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, sides and inside the drawer bottoms, but nothing significant considering the age of them. The Art Deco bedside chests boast decorative figured walnut timbers, boasting a rich walnut colour, which are all in excellent condition. The drawers are well constructed, run freely and close flush to the frame. The drawer fronts also retain original handles, which is a nice touch. The Art Deco nightstands are well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
